Ricordate quando Beth Ditto, la cantante lesbica, obesa e punk dichiarò che secondo lei Katy Perry era falsa per i suoi atteggiamenti nei confronti del mondo dell’omosessualità? La Ditto, da sempre attivissima in campagne a tutela degli omosessuali, ha dichiarato che l’atteggiamento di Katy è offensivo verso le persone gay, affermando che lei punta a far sembrare l’omosessualità come una trasgressione in modo da attirare nuovi fans. Oltretutto, aggiunge, Katy Perry non è nemmeno omosessuale.

I hate Katy Perry! She’s offensive to gay culture, I’m so offended. She’s just riding on the backs of our culture, without having to pay any of the dues and not being actually lesbian or anything at all. She’s on the cover of a fucking gay magazine.

La risposta di Katy è molto semplice ed educata, la cantante californiana chiarisce subito di non essere impressionata e di non voler creare faide con nessuno, tantomeno con la Ditto, che quindi non giudicherà con nessun termine. “Inoltre – afferma Katy – in un anno di lavoro ho imparato molte cose, tra cui una regola molto preziosa: non insultare mai un altro artista“.

I heard that she said something about me. I don’t want to get into a slanging war with anybody, so I don’t want to say anything bad about her. But I’m not impressed. I’ve learned in the past year that one artist should never insult another artist’s music — it’s tacky. And with me, it always comes back to bite me on the arse!
